Miami, Florida The firm that created Hangout, a new social music network, Turntable Labs, has announced an additional seed round for $8.2 million.

Hangout’s game-like elements fill in the social and emotional gaps left by most virtual social encounters by emulating the social and emotional effects of sharing music. In addition to public themed rooms based on their preferences and interests, users can spin their chosen tunes solely for themselves and their friends in virtual DJ booths. Custom avatars may dance and upvote their favourite songs, while chat features encourage both new and old connections to keep the party going.
